Paint Dry Theatre company are seeking submissions for one act plays lasting between 10-20 mins to be performed at our London scratch night in May/June.
We are looking for playwrights that want to be involved ie watch rehearsals and the show. Our theatre company is all about learning and gaining experience, and I think it can be brilliant to watch your writing in being work-shopped! Please do not submit if you feel you could not agree to this.
We will organise directors and actors for the piece and then have a fantastic night sharing the pieces and networking!

2015 Playwright’s Competition (SE USA ONLY)
What If? Productions continues our mission to introduce the ambitious works of new and emerging artists in contemporary American theatre with the launch of our fourth annual regional Playwrights Competition.
SOME OF THE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
1. We only accept digital submissions. Scripts can be submitted digitally via email at play@whatifproductions.org as a pdf document. We do not accept mailed hard copies of scripts. Do not mail your scripts! Mailed scripts will be automatically disqualified and NOT RETURNED.
2. Submission must be written in the English language.
3. Submission must be an original full length play that is previously unpublished. (we are not accepting musicals or one-act plays this year)
4. The submission must begin with a title page that includes the work’s name and the playwright’s name, address, telephone number, and email. There should also include a character list and scene breakdown if applicable.
5. Submissions that have been previously published or produced will not be accepted. Plays scheduled for a future professional production will also not be accepted.
6. Script must be easy to read in no less than 12-point type and page numbers.
7. We are an eclectic contemporary theatre company with a focus on modern issues (comedy, drama, musicals) with a target audience from ages 20 – 45. Submissions geared toward this area are strongly recommended.
8. Cast size rage from 1 – 10 characters only.
9. Each playwright is limited to one submission per year. There will be no revisions accepted once a script has been submitted.
10. Submission must include a short paragraph synopsis of the script storyline.

24:7 Theatre Festival: Call for Monologues 2015
Following our calls for 40 – 90 minute scripts and site specific ideas, 24:7 Theatre Festival is now looking for a selection of short monologues to be performed during our Big Festival Weekend (24 – 26 July), in and around The Martin Harris for Music and Drama at the University of Manchester.
Each monologue will have a maximum performance length of 5 minutes and will be performed a number of times over the Weekend. They will be delivered by our 24:7 Players – a mixed group of actors – so feel free to write for any age, ethnicity or gender. In fact, the more diverse the better.
The theme for the monologues is Manchester’s rich heritage of scientific discovery; specifically, people who have made a significant contribution to Manchester in the fields of science and technology. You may be influenced by those honoured on the blue plaques in and around the University campus (information can be found at http://openplaques.org/organisations/university_of_manchester). However, you can write about anyone or anything with a Manchester connection in these fields.

The Progressive Playwright is the Tron’s monthly scratch event, giving playwrights the chance to hear short extracts of their work directed and performed by professional actors in the Tron’s Changing House studio. Following the readings there will be feedback and discussion which can help the playwright progress to the next stage of their work.
The audience will vote for one script at the end of each Progressive Playwright event that they would like to hear more of. The successful writer will then have the opportunity to take on the feedback given, look at the strengths and weaknesses of their script, develop their piece further (up to a maximum of 20 pages including the initial first 10) and use the next event as a platform for hearing more of their developed piece.
Please note, each play only has the opportunity to progress to another one event. It is then up to the writer, if they want, to develop their script further, taking on the audience, actor and director feedback.This event is about the playwright learning more about their craft, hearing their work performed and encouraging them to work further on scripts that they want to develop.

10 Minute Play Festival – U.S.
Studio Players, Kentucky’s Oldest Community-Involved Theater, located in Lexington, is proud to announce their 2nd Annual 10-Minute Play Festival, to be performed in August 2015. The response last year was so positive, we are adding a second week of performances. We are looking for 7 strong, entertaining plays to feature so, once again, we are holding a competition. This competition is for 10-minute plays only; it is open to any playwright. The judges will be members of the Studio Players theater community: board members, directors and patrons. The rules are simple and are as follows:
1. Any playwright may enter; only one script per playwright.
2. The play must be a 10 minute play (meaning it will be approximately 10 pages long).
3. All plays should be emailed, with a separate cover page, with: play’s title, author’s name, email address, mailing address and phone number. The play itself should only have the title; no identifying information contained in or on the 10 page script.
4. To be considered, each script must be received by May 10th.
5. The contest is open to the first 150 entries received.
6. Winning entrants agree to a full production of their scripts.
That’s it! The top 7 scripts (as determined by the judges) will be performed by active members of the Bluegrass theater community. Each play will be a fully realized, staged production; each performance showing all winning scripts. The 7 Selected playwrights will each receive $150 in prize money.

Bierkeller pride
Bristol Bierkeller seeks play submissions for their PRIDE event.
This year we will be looking for pieces running at roughly 10mins and we are looking for a play to represent the L, the G, the B and the T for Pride. We will then be looking for a 5th script to represent PRIDE.
The chosen scripts will then be Cast and Directed by the team at The Bierkeller Theatre.

Writerslam
Building on the success of the MonologueSlam UK initiative for actors, WriterSlam UK is a new initiative to help TV production companies and broadcasters access new and established writers from diverse backgrounds, and support them in their career development, providing tangible outcomes for participants, with a structured and accessible programme over 2015.
How to enter WriterSlam

ITV and ITV Studios are the lead supporters on the first event and they are looking for new drama voices. So WriterSlam is looking for ideas for SCRIPTED DRAMA SERIES.
What do you need to submit?
WriterSlam believe that not everyone has the time to sit down and write a whole TV script, even though they may be the next Steven Moffat. Instead of submitting an entire script, you need to send:
- A short synopsis of your drama series idea (no more than 200 words)
- 10-15 pages of an episode of the drama series. This does not have to be the first episode, but it can be.
- All submissions must be sent in a Word doc (or equivalent) to minnie@thetcn.com
For the first event they are looking for drama ideas, rather than comedy. However there are ideas which don’t easily fall into either genre, so if you’re not sure, submit it.
There must be a maximum of 6 characters in the script extract you submit. There can be further characters that appear in the series later on.
Your submission can be written for the competition, or it can be something you’re already working on.

Ideastap/Invertigo/Pleasance – Writer in Residence
One playwright will get the chance to develop a play on the theme of “family” over a four month period with dramaturgical support from the artistic directors of Invertigo, with a rehearsed reading at The Pleasance and a £350 fee.
One IdeasTap member will win:
- The opportunity to develop a play over a period of four months from May – September 2015
- A rehearsed reading of the play at a respected Off West End venue
- The possibility of being programmed in the Invertigo 2016 calendar
- A £350 fee
- Dramaturgical support from the artistic directors of Invertigo
To apply, you’ll need to submit an original script idea of no more than 150 words on the topic of what family means. The play must be suitable for more than four characters.
This brief closes on Friday 22 May 2015 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 16 and over. Late entries will not be accepted under any circumstances, including technical issues – so make sure you don’t leave your application to the last minute.

ArtsEd School London
Due to the success of their New Writing Project launched in 2014, ArtsEd are now inviting writers to submit their scripts for the second season.
Shortlisted scripts will be read in a workshop situation from which eight scripts will be selected. Writers may be required to develop or adapt their work. They will subsequently be filmed in March 2016, by a professional director and cameraman, supported by a full student crew and with 3rd year BA Acting students. Each film will then be edited to broadcast standard and screened before an industry audience.
Each script should combine a clear, narrative arc with a degree of dramatic action and must also fulfil the following criteria:
- Be of 10-12 minutes duration
- Be suitable for filming on a limited budget
- Require a maximum of 5 simple locations and not involve difficult technical set ups ie: long driving scenes, period settings etc.
- Tackle contemporary subject matter, both comedy and drama and be set in the last decade
- Be suitable for a cast who are in their twenties, with a minimum of 4 strong roles
- Avoid any extreme violence or explicit sexual content
- Require a limited number of older cast or none at all ideally

Memphis, Tenn.,– Playhouse on the Square, now in its 45th Season, is accepting scripts for the 3rd Annual “NewWorks@TheWorks” Competition. A panel of local directors, actors, and designers will review all submitted scripts and select six to receive staged readings during the 2015-16 season. After the six readings have been presented, Playhouse on the Square will select two that will receive full productions during the 2016-17 Season. These two new works will receive world premieres at Playhouse’s third performance space, TheatreWorks. Along with these fully mounted productions, the two winning works will each be awarded a prize of $500.
There is a $15 entry fee for the competition, which must be paid along with the submitted script. PLEASE NOTE – Members of the Dramatists Guild need only pay $10. Only check and money order will be accepted. Any script submitted without the entry fee will not be considered.

ONE ACT PLAYWRIGHT AWARDS – Cork Arts Theatre
This year we are celebrating 35 years and have decided to make a couple of changes to improve the competition and make it more writer focused. We will be producing 2 plays this year to the highest professional standard and will be running workshops and having guest talks with experienced playwrights. During Writers’ Week, there will be writing workshops with experienced writers and talks aimed at providing information and stimulating discussion and inspiring writers to continue to develop their art.

Cost is €25 per entry.
We have two different categories of Award: Established Writers (category A) and New Writers (category B). Both recipients of category A and category B Awards will receive an award and have their play produced.
4 copies of each script to be submitted. The entrant’s name should appear only on entry form and NOT ON THE SCRIPTS.
Script length is limited to not more than 40 minutes.

Pint Sized Plays
- The competition is open to anyone aged 18 and over.
- Scripts should be capable of being staged in a pub with a running time of between 5 and 10 minutes.
- Scripts should require two or three characters only with minimal additional props.
- Scripts will be judged on originality, quality, and suitability for the setting.
- All plays should be written in English.
- The author’s name must not appear on the cover page or anywhere within the script.
- Scripts should be in Word or pdf format and uploaded to http://www.pintsizedplays.org.uk.
- The entry fee of £5.50 or equivalent for each play submitted should be made through PayPal.
- Plays may also be submitted by post with an entry form downloaded from the website (from April 2015 onwards) which gives the name of the author, contact details and the name of the play, accompanied by a cheque for £5.50 made payable to ‘Pint-sized Plays’. Payment in other currencies cannot be accepted.
