April showers 2011

APRIL SHOWERS is a chance to write that idea down that’s been mulling away or to re visit something you started. It can be a short play, or the beginnings of an idea for a full length play that you would like to develop in the future, but between then and now, if you need some more inspiration and response, submit to April Showers for the opportunity to see what you’ve got up on it’s feet with the help of a professional company.

Twitfest – London Comedy Writers Festival

Write a tweet of no more than 140 characters (including the hashtag #comfest) – the tweet must be a COMEDY LOGLINE and must describe a story that is either one YOU are working on, or IMAGINARY. (We DON’T want loglines for existing produced stories, please!). Obviously it can be as funny as you like (though not all comedy situations are automatically funny, of course).

30th March

Emerge – Leeds new Work Festival

To take part, send them your short script, along with the application form. Pieces should last only 10-15 minutes and have minimal technical requirements. Ideally the cast size should be no more than 4 (2 men, 2 women). It can be part of a longer script, but please do not send more than the 10-15 minutes you want performed. They won’t have time to read it – they’ll ask to see more if they need to.

Please note the performances will be script-in-hand and we ask that writers attend if they are selected. The date is yet to be confirmed, but will be an evening during the week of the Emerge Festival (19 June onwards).
