Work? Me? Nooooooo!

Filed under: New Competitions — Anon @ 13:00

That’s it. The end of the holidays. Back to school/frantic mornings/after-school clubs/other people’s children that I’m not allowed to swear at. I know I’m not supposed to swear at my own but sometimes… So I’ve gone back to bed. It’s nice and peaceful up here, especially because I’m 3 floors away from the husband who got a new guitar for his birthday. What was I thinking!

I sent in my Funny Women’s Award script so fingers crossed for that, and also still waiting to hear from Bristol Old Vic so that should keep me busy for September. I’m a bit gutted that I only managed to rewrite the first 4 chapters of my children’s book during the holiday but I thought I might try for the Times/Chicken House comp with it so that gives me a deadline of November 1st. I always find it easier to finish a project if I’ve got a date to aim for.

September looks quite full with competitions as does October whereas November is bizarrely empty. Essex keeps popping up which I notice having been an Essex Girl for about 15 years split between Colchester (started theatre career here at the Mercury) and Southend (First kiss on the beach at Thorpe Bay. His name was Simon and it was like kissing a soggy hoover). Colchester’s Frequency Theatre are always looking for short radio plays, and they are also associated with the BBC for a new comp called Making Waves looking for a 10-15 radio play on the theme of Horizons (Deadline October) and Southend Playwriting Festival are looking for submissions for 2014 (Deadline 30th September). There was also a Painted Words Exhibition but the deadline’s today so speedy writers only need apply.

I’ve been found! Time to go so happy writing all. X
