A few bits and pieces for you:

This one came from the Facebook Playwriting UK site – Hello my company Wired to the Moon Productions is looking for either 1 x 30 min or 2 x 15 min plays to go with an existing short comedy to make up a production for Camden Fringe this year. In the spirit of giving actors & writers at least something (even if only profit share) 3 characters max. Females preferred for cross casting purposes. For further info please contact me at: julialeedean@gmail. No limit to submissions at this stage.

STOP PRESS – She’s now looking for all female casts – deadline Friday, January 25th.

The 8th series of Newsjack is starting again on February 14th. Newsjack is Radio 4 Extra’s flagship topical comedy show. Featuring an open-door policy – which means anyone can write for it – Newsjack is a magazine-style sketch show that comically scrutinises all the news, views and issues of the day. Sketches need to be in by the Monday (11th) and one-liners on Tuesday (12th). Make sure you read their submission guidelines or their Twitter feed gets really grumpy!
And last but by NO means least the Bruntwood Prize is about to start again. Entry opens on Jan 31st and close on June 3rd.  The website is full of useful information so definitely worth a look.
The prize?

  • First Prize of £16,000 – with the offer of a year-long attachment with the Royal Exchange Theatre
  • Three Judges’ Awards of £8,000 each.

All four winners will have the opportunity to develop their play at the Royal Exchange Theatre with a view to production. In addition, leading publisher Nick Hern Books will publish those plays that go on to receive a production at the Exchange.

Not bad for a bit of scribbling.

That’s it for now so happy writing all. X
