Playwrights' Competition Calendar

A Very Good Week

Filed under: New Competitions — Gina @ 22:58

Great fun at the casting on Sunday and I got to meet my Director, Amy Mulholland, who’s fantastic and seems to like my play so that’s a bonus. Very exciting. I did start to feel a little sorry for the actors, though, getting pushed around and having to perform increasingly insane improvisations on the off-chance of getting cast. Having said that our cast is fab especially my leading lady.

And then today the fantastic news that both plays I’d written for Stage Fright at the London Horror Festival have been long-listed. I might have to start telling people I’m a writer soon.

Should start with myself.

I’ve up-dated the calendar but don’t get too excited because there’s nothing in January through April yet – I only put them in because of the Lightship First Act Competition in May.

November has HighTide opening their doors to submissions, a radio play competition by Mind Engagement Media (a company who seem to make programs about Backgammon tournaments – if anyone knows any more about them please let me know), but you’ll get cash and your play on Shoreditch Radio, and The Traverse is looking for 50 playwrights to mentor.

    • Play’s on in the last week of September (alternate nights from the Tuesday) but I’ve started to feel everso slightly nauseous whenever I think about it.
