Playwrights' Competition Calendar

A Blank Page

Filed under: Writing Opportunities — Gina @ 11:47

Lovely husband has taken children off for the morning to give me a chance to make a start on my ten minute, three act play on the subject of An Encounter (which must not involve a park bench) for Sir.

So, I’ve stared at an empty page for a bit, checked Twitter and emails, another look at empty page followed by Facebook and emails again, back to empty page, and now I’m here.

If you’re quick and from the East of England you’ve got three days to apply for Escalator Plays – a year-long mentorship program run by the Hightide Festival Theatre. They want a ten page script as a sample of your writing and there’s a longish application form to fill in too.

Emerging Scottish playwrights can try for The Avalon Mentorship – a 6-month development programme run by Siege Perilous in conjunction with its Writer-in-Residence Caroline Dunford. Each playwright will receive one-to-one mentoring to develop their writing skills, be guided on the creative process, and learn about the operational aspects of staging a show. You’ve got from September 10th till September 23rd to apply.

On Sunday I’m off to London for a casting session for my Offcut play. I’m now swinging between extreme excitement and absolute terror that my Director is going to hate the play. I may never sleep again.
