Playwrights' Competition Calendar

Bits and Pieces

Newsjack have updated their writers guidelines for the new series which starts in the week beginning 20th February.

I’ve just added ‘Agent 160′ to my links. They are a new theatre company, officially launching in February, who will be trying to address the sorry fact that only 17% of plays produced in this country are written by women. I love how they came up with their name:  Aphra Behn – the first woman to earn her living as a playwright – was also a spy. Her code name was Agent 160.

In July you’ll find a new competition run by Sussex Playwright’s club for full-length plays on the theme of past, present and/or future. There’s a £7 entry fee for a £200 prize. I still need to lose two pages from my short so I can enter it into their 10 minute play competition (closing date Jan. 31st) which is probably why I’m here up-dating this. I’ll be checking up on Facebook next. Then there’s my Moshi Monster to feed.

Theatre Centre is offering the Adrienne Benham Award, a £2000 seed commission, to spotlight a promising playwright who is interested in writing exceptional live theatre for young people, but has little experience in this field. Closing date February.
