Two competitions and a flyer.

The DRAMA ASSOCIATION OF WALES’ One Act Playwriting Competition 2012 has now been launched.  The competition aims to encourage the writing of plays for theatre in English and Welsh. In addition to cash awards, prize-winning plays will be published. Previous prize winners have been published and performed as a result of promotion through their New Writing Scheme (including the inimitable Barney Norris).
Playing time: 20-50 mins. Minimum cast of 2 – no monologues. Closing date – January 31st.

Hotbed is the Cambridge new writing festival from Menagerie Theatre Company, hosted by The Junction. Performed in three spaces within the Junction the festival is a weekend of new work all commissioned or being presented for the first time. In 2012 Hotbed celebrates its 10th anniversary as a crucible of new writing: 10 years of challenging and exciting work by the widest range of playwrights. To mark this milestone, they are commissioning 10 new pieces of work to première at Hotbed 2012. They will be commissioning six 10 minute monologues, three one-act plays and one special commission to be created over the weekend. At this stage you need to submit your idea and outline to them by November 4th and they will offer their commissions on the 14th.

And finally here’s the flyer for the Core Theatre’s Devil’s Night of ghost story readings – including mine. Yay!

Today it’s a pub in Bath – tomorrow The World.
