Hello all, and sorry for the silence but I’ve been a bit busy – I would love to say I was writing but that would be fibbing.

New stuff out there:

BBC Radio Drama North supported by the new social creativity platform Stringsta, has just launched a unique web space, where budding writers and creatives can come together to share written, visual and audio content. They have provided the foundations of this world, but they want YOU to help build it further through your own story ideas, scripts, photographs and audio recordings.
I have just cut and pasted that lot because I haven’t quite worked out what’s going on yet, but it’s worth a look because Producers from BBC Radio Drama will be monitoring the posted content. Closing date July 29th.

In December are the details for the New Directions Playwriting Competition for both one-act and full length plays. Full details of the competition are now published on the Amateur Stage Website. There is an entry fee for this competition of £5 or £10 respectively, but there are cash prizes of £500 and £1000 so it’s worth a look.

I’ve also been sent details of a “What’s the Story” participatory film festival being organised by the Salisbury Arts Centre. To enter you will be sent the title of a well-known story/myth/legend/novel which you will then rework into a 5 minute film. Some of these films will then be shown at special screenings in the area, and the audience will have to guess which stories the films are based on. Closing date will be in September, but I can’t add any more details yet because I can’t find any more information on the website. I’ll keep you posted.

I’m going now, but promise I won’t leave it so long.

Happy writing all.
